Medical Director Performs Surgery on his Daughter and Son
On June 6, 2001, Dr. Alberto Aran, The Laser Center of Coral Gables' Medical Director, performed LASIK on his daughter Alexis. She is now a happy 20/20 Vision patient who can't stop telling all how wonderful life can be without contact lenses or glasses.
Alexis had wanted her dad to correct her farsightedness for several years, but her vision was not stable, which prevented her from undergoing LASIK. With the use of the Autonomous LadarVision technology, Dr. Aran was able to eliminate not only her hyperopia, but also her astigmatism.
Over ten years after performing surgery on his daughter, Dr. Aran performed surgery on his son. Once his prescription stabilized after college Alberto Aran Jr. had iLASIK on December 5, 2012. He now see’s 20/15 in each eye..better than 20/20!
Dr. Aran and his children are now thrilled with their exceptional results. It is obvious that Dr. Aran is extremely confident with the long term effects of laser vision correction or he would not have performed the procedure on his own children.

Thank you TLC of Coral Gables for changing my life! Before the procedure my prescription was -3.75, in other words pretty blind, and most of my life I had to use contact lenses and glasses. And me being a professional musical artist, I couldn't stand wearing glasses in public or risking my vision by wearing my lenses all the time. So I had to give it a shot and called TLC to make an appointment.
The doctors at TLC gave me all the information detail by detail and made sure I was a perfect candidate, which I was, so I had all the confidence in the world that this surgical procedure was going to be a success. During the surgery I was incredibly surprised of how fast the operation was, and how comfortable the doctor made me feel every step of the way. Minutes right after the procedure I was able to look up at the clock and tell the time, but the best part was two days after I was already seeing better than 20/20! Being a future optometrist, I know first hand how precious one's vision is. I've been wearing glasses or contact lenses since the age of 7. By the time my prescription stabilized, I was about a -7.00 in both eyes. That literally means I couldn't see anything that was farther than about a hand's length away from my face!! I've always been interested in vision corrective surgery, but it was important for me to feel comfortable with and trust the surgeon.
Thankfully, I met Dr. Aran whom made me feel at ease. I've observed Dr. Aran's surgeries first hand and saw what great results his surgeries had repeatedly. Once I made the decision that I wanted a LASIK consultation. Before I knew it, it was surgery day.. and shortly after that I was 20/20!
